Activities in and around Sorbietrees
Sorbietrees caters for all types of tourist and visitors
to the Borders and is an ideal base for
a
peaceful relaxing holiday exploring Scotland’s Castles, Abbeys, Country
Houses, along with the history, culture and wildlife of the Borders
Reivers country.
Take a trip to Hermitage Castle, this vast eerie fortress not only
witnessed long years of turbulent border reiving, but it played host to
the tragic Mary Queen of Scots when she snatched two hours’ rendezvous
with her lover Bothwell.
The Liddesdale Heritage Centre is also well worth a visit and we are
within 30 minutes of Kielder Water, Carlisle, Gretna Green and Hadrian’s
Wall.
For the more energetic why not try out the 7 Stanes Mountain Biking
facility or Cycle Route 10 of the Reivers Cycle Trail.
The challenging 9 hole golf course on the Holm Hill also provides
magnificent views over Newcastleton and the Liddesdale hills.
Fishing, horse riding and walking are close by.
