Horses welcome at Sorbietrees Bed & Breakfast, Newcastleton, the Scottish BordersActivities

Sorbietrees Bed and Breakfast caters for all types of tourist and visitors to the Borders and is an ideal base for a peaceful relaxing holiday exploring Scotland’s Castles, Abbeys, Country Houses, along with the history, culture and wildlife of the Borders Reivers country.

Take a trip to Hermitage Castle, this vast eerie fortress not only witnessed long years of turbulent border reiving, but it played host to the tragic Mary Queen of Scots when she snatched two hours’ rendezvous with her lover Bothwell.

The Liddesdale Heritage Centre is also well worth a visit or take a trip to the Hawick Heritage Hub and trace your ancestry. We are within 30 minutes travelling of Kielder Water, Carlisle, Gretna Green and Hadrian’s Wall to name but a few.

For the more energetic why not try out the 7 Stanes Mountain Biking facility, the new cross-border trail or stop while on Route 10 of the Reivers Cycle Trail.

The challenging 9 hole golf course on the Holm Hill also provides magnificent views over Newcastleton and the Liddesdale hills.
Whithaugh Park run by Rock UK Ltd has a range of outdoor activities including Abseilling, Archery, Canoeing, Climbing, High Ropes, Kayaking or Mountain Biking, an indoor swimming pool and bike hire

Fishing, horse riding and walking are close by.

As we have virtually no light pollution, we are ideal for Astronomers on a clear night.
